Spiaggia al Pescatore is a pebble beach located in the southeastern part of Lake Caldonazzo in the Trentino Alto Adige region. The beach has a nearly flat slope that extends consistently from the exposed zone into the submerged zone. The beach is 300 metres long and 5 to 20 metres wide, with an area of 0.52 square kilometres at an altitude of 449 metres above sea level.

Location

The beach is situated southeast of Lake Caldonazzo in the municipality of Calceranica al Lago, province of Trento, Trentino Alto Adige. Parking areas are available near the beach, and a camping site is located behind the beach.

Facilities

Private restaurant with services, camping, parking areas, children's recreational area with swimming pool. Lifeguard service with certified rescue personnel is available during summer months.

Season

The official monitoring period is from 16 May to 14 September, when animals are permitted only on the beach's pedestrian pathway.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as Excellent for the years 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. Average total phosphorus concentration for 2014–2016 was 21 µg/l. The lake receives treated wastewater from a regional sewage network that discharges treated effluent into the Brenta river rather than the lake. During heavy rainfall, potential sewage overflow is possible in the stretch between the Calceranica and Caldonazzo pumping stations due to inadequate separation of municipal sewer networks. An internal phosphorus load from sediment release during anoxic periods represents approximately 28% of total phosphorus load.

Risks

During heavy rainfall events, there is a possibility of sewage overflow from the intercommunal sewer system into the lake. Cyanobacteria blooms are a potential concern, though no previous toxic events have been reported in the last four years.
