Casa Numero Civico 80 is a bathing area located in Montemarciano, Marche region. The beach consists of calcareous and siliceous gravel with an average slope of 7% on both emerged and submerged areas. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limits) is 10 metres, with an astronomical tide range of 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area is characterized by urban settlements with a railway line passing through.

Water Quality

Classification: Category C and Class E. Wastewater treatment: Vallechiara treatment plant (BNR biological with anaerobic digestion) serving approximately 70,000 inhabitants equivalent from urban settlements and 3,500 AE from industrial activities. Monthly ARPAM controls of the treatment plant in 2010 showed results always compliant with authorized limits. E. coli measurements at treatment plant discharge in 2010: March, April, May, October, November below determination limit; June 50 CFU/100ml; July 5 CFU/100ml; August 10 CFU/10ml; September 3,000 CFU/100ml; December 260 CFU/100ml.

Risks

Natural drainage channel for clear water (80 cm section). Oil spill incident on 04/04/2007 from API Refinery pipeline rupture causing closure of bathing area until end of May 2007. Fibrocapsa japonica (non-toxic nematophycean alga) proliferation in August 2009 and second half August 2010, causing brownish-reddish water coloration and oily consistency.
