Casino is a sandy beach located adjacent to the fishing harbor of La Pietra in Levanto, Liguria. The beach is situated in a heavily urbanized residential area east of the town, featuring private bathing establishments with dining and accommodation facilities. A seafront promenade, railway station, and hiking trail to Monterosso are nearby. The bathing water area extends 0.528 km and has been classified as excellent for the 2020–2023 four-year monitoring period.

Levanto, Liguria, Italy. The beach is located east of the town center near the fishing harbor of La Pietra. Municipal authority: Piazza Cavour 1, 19015 Levanto SP. Parking and facility information available through local authorities.

Private bathing establishments with services, restaurants, and accommodation. Seafront promenade. Railway station access. Hiking trail departure point (Trail 1 to Monterosso). Animals are allowed access to the area.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (2020–2023 monitoring period). The bathing water is monitored as part of the regional Ostreopsis ovata control network (Area 11 Punta Mesco). Reference monitoring station at Sestri Levante showed no exceedances of the 30,000 cells/litre limit and no values between 10,000–30,000 cells/litre from 2019 to 2023. Identified pollution sources include the Vallesanta treatment plant discharge approximately 900 m offshore and port-related pollution from the nearby tourist marina to the northwest.

During heavy rainfall, increased stream flow from Fosso di Terraro and Rio Valle Cantarena (which discharge directly into the bathing water) may transport sewage downstream. Ostreopsis ovata microalgae blooms have occurred in Liguria over the past decade; effects from inhalation of aerosol include temporary and reversible respiratory issues and fever in sensitive individuals.
