Dalby Strand is a sandy beach approximately 130 metres long and 5 metres wide, located in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. The beach has occasional macroalgae and is accessed from Fægangen via a 70-metre grass and reed area. The beach is classified as Excellent based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2019-2022. A rescue ring is available at the parking area.

Water

Sandy beach with occasional macroalgae. The beach is approximately 130 metres long and 5 metres wide. Water flow is primarily in an easterly direction.

Location

Dalby Strand is accessed by car from Fægangen, where there is a parking area and a rescue post. The village of Dalby is located directly adjacent to the beach.

Season

Bathing water profile section on classification is revised annually in November after the bathing season ends.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent, based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2019-2022 according to EU bathing water directive rules. Kalundborg Municipality has no information about drains, watercourses, or other sources near the beach that could cause faecal pollution, therefore the risk is assessed as very small.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms exists but cannot be reliably predicted. Large amounts of seaweed (macroalgae) at the beach edge may pose health risks to animals and humans. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur. Information boards are erected during periods of elevated risk for cyanobacteria blooms or large amounts of seaweed.
