Drøsselbjerg Strand is a sandy beach approximately 160 metres long and 15 metres wide, characterized by many stones and large stone breakwaters with a stone-covered seafloor. The beach is backed by 20-metre-high cliffs leading to grassland and summer houses. A bathing pier is located at the southern end of the beach near the municipal boundary, and a life ring is available on the beach.

Water

Coastal marine water with dominant water flow toward the east and south.

Location

Access to the beach is available via the coast or through a summer house area with no parking facilities. From Klintevænget, visitors walk toward the water and descend the cliffs via a well-trodden ramp.

Bathing pier, life ring.

Season

Monitoring occurs minimum 4 times per year. The classification section is revised annually in November after the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Measurements for intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2019–2022 determined this classification according to EU bathing water directive rules.

Risks

Drain outlets near the bathing pier present a pollution risk because the dominant current direction flows eastward. Short-term pollution typically occurs after heavy rainfall, causing drain and stream overflow, lasting up to 3 days. Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea and diarrhoea in humans; children and immunocompromised individuals are particularly vulnerable. Large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae) can harbour bacteria and prolong the survival of faecal bacteria. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur.
