Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). No cyanobacterial blooms occur due to oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded in the past four years. There are no coastal wastewater treatment plants or Imhoff tanks present in the area.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to preponderant oligotrophic conditions. No proliferation of potentially toxic algal strains has been identified.
