Dragstrup Vig is a broad sandy beach approximately 1500 meters long and 15 to 20 meters wide on western Mors in Denmark. The beach features a gently sloping seabed of fine sand with few stones, making it child-friendly for swimming. The beach is located at the bottom of Dragstrup Vig, south of Dragstrup town, a summer house area, and a campground. A forest belt borders the beach while agricultural land comprises the wider catchment area.

Water

Saltwater in Limfjorden. The beach is approximately 1500 meters long and 15 to 20 meters wide. Water depth increases very gradually; approximately 200 meters from shore is required to reach 2 meters depth. The dominant current direction is from the west.

Location

Western Mors, accessed via Dragstrupvej, located south of Dragstrup town and the Dragstrup summer house area and campground. Parking is available.

Facilities

Picnic tables and benches, lifeguard station.

Season

Routine monitoring is conducted during the bathing season; the classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring for indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season. The classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season and was calculated from control samples taken regularly during 2016–2019.

Risks

Two unnamed streams discharge onto the beach and are slightly affected by wastewater from individual dwellings in their catchments; bathing near these outlets is not recommended. Lyngbro Bæk, the largest stream on Mors, discharges north of the beach and is periodically heavily impacted by wastewater from approximately 300 individual dwellings with direct discharge and stormwater overflows from Ø. Jølby town during heavy rain. Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton blooms exists during periods of calm, warm weather. Beached seaweed (macroalgae) can accumulate during strong onshore winds. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur.
