Egernvej is a bathing area located approximately 7 kilometres south of Nyborg in Denmark, situated in the southern part of the Storebælt strait between Funen and Zealand. The beach stretches approximately 800 metres from a summer house area in the north to 200 metres north of the Maemose outlet. The southern section features washed-up seastone and is 10–15 metres wide with access via a dike from Kystvej, while the northern section is a fine sand beach 20–25 metres wide with access from adjacent summer houses and a public footpath. Water depths exceed 2 metres after approximately 250 metres from shore. The beach substrate is characterised by fine and firm sand.

Water

Storebælt strait between Funen and Zealand, functioning as the primary transport route for water masses between Kattegat and the Baltic Sea. Water depths exceed 2 metres approximately 250 metres from shore. The seabed consists of fine and firm sand. Salinity measured at 16‰ on 15 July 2010. Currents are primarily north or south-going, influenced by tides and wind conditions.

Location

Approximately 7 kilometres south of Nyborg, Denmark. The beach extends from a summer house area in the north. Access is available via Kystvej to the southern section and directly from summer houses to the northern section.

Water Quality

Water classified as Excellent. Classification based on microbiological bathing water data from bathing seasons 2008–2011. Control measurements at Kløverhage North and Kløverhage South have not shown deteriorated water quality over the past 8 years. The risk of cyanobacteria blooms is assessed as low with no observations recorded in the past 5 years. The risk of phytoplankton growth is assessed as low with no major occurrences observed in the past 5 years.

Risks

Sewage overflow from combined sewer overflow structures during heavy rain, discharging into the stream system that connects to Maemose outlet approximately 300 metres south of Egernvej. Properties in open land have older septic tanks as the only treatment before direct discharge into Maemoseafløbet. Bathing is generally discouraged within 200 metres of stream outlets and rain-dependent discharges. Low risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth.
