Revsøre Strand is a sandy beach located in southern Funen, Denmark, stretching over 500 metres with fine sand and occasional stones. The beach has a bathing jetty and is sheltered from westerly winds for most of its length. Water depth reaches less than 2 metres within 150–300 metres of the shore. The hinterland consists mainly of fields with summer houses and year-round residential buildings. The beach is classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring during the bathing season.

Water

Saltwater in the South Funen Archipelago. Water depth is less than 2 metres within 150–300 metres of the shore. Beach width ranges from 5–15 metres with a length over 500 metres. The sea bed consists of fine sand with scattered smaller stones and some seaweed between reefs. Tidal range is small, under 0.5 metres. Current direction varies depending on wind conditions, primarily from south and north.

Location

The beach is located near Hesselager, with the nearest address at Bellisvej, 5874 Hesselager. Parking is available at a large public green area adjacent to the toilet facilities. Bus access is available.

Facilities

Bathing jetty, parking, toilet facilities including disabled toilet, bus access, mobile coverage, rescue ring, and defibrillator on the toilet building. No kiosk, restaurant, or blue flag award.

Season

Official monitoring period: 1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent (Udmærket kvalitet). This classification is based on routine control samples from the last four years and is recalculated annually before the bathing season. Water is analysed for E. coli and Enterococcus bacteria. Results and information are available on Svendborg Municipality's website at www.svendborg.dk/badevand.

Risks

Risk of fecal contamination from a single rainwater outlet near residential areas, primarily from birds, though dilution in the Great Belt is expected to prevent impact on beach water quality. Risk of sudden contamination from boat accidents, slurry tanks, or sewage lines. Risk of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) and phytoplankton blooms is assessed as low but can occur during prolonged warm periods with high nutrient levels. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) wash-up at the water's edge. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur.
