Ejerslev Lyng

Ejerslev Lyng is a bathing beach located on the northeastern coast of Mors in Denmark. The beach is approximately 300 metres long and consists primarily of sand mixed with small stones. The beach width varies between 10 and 15 metres, with a gently sloping seabed of sand and small stones. The immediate surroundings comprise a summer house area and smaller forested regions.

Water

Salt water in the Limfjorden. Water depth increases gradually; 180–260 metres from the shore is required to reach 2 metres depth. Dominant current directions are between south and west.

Location

Located on northeastern Mors, approximately 1.5 kilometres from Ejerslev town. Access is via Lyngen and then Villavej. Limited parking available for 5–10 cars.

Facilities

Public bathing pier, toilet, tables and benches, rescue ring.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality based on monitoring samples from 2012–2015. Classification determined by E. coli and enterococci levels. The Hundsø Kanal stream discharges immediately south of the beach and approximately 180 metres south of the bathing pier, carrying risk of faecal bacteria from individual property sewage in its catchment area.

Risks

Bathing is not recommended at or near the Hundsø Kanal outlet due to risk of faecal bacteria from sewage discharge. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms, though sudden algal blooms can occur during prolonged warm periods with nutrient-rich water. Algal toxins can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Low risk of large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae) washing ashore. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur. Swimmers should be aware of potential sudden contamination from ship accidents, pleasure boats, and sewer line failures.
