Flovt Strand

Flovt Strand is a 400-meter-long beach composed of fine sand with scattered small stones, located in Haderslev Municipality, Denmark. The beach is situated southeast of the summer house areas of Flovt Strand and Råde Strand, with a large natural area inland creating a pleasant atmosphere and offering various activities. The water is classified as brackish water in the Little Belt, with water depth under 2 meters extending approximately 50 meters from the shore. The beach has been classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring of faecal indicator bacteria.

Water

Brackish water body in the Little Belt. The beach is 400 meters long and 10–20 meters wide. The seabed consists of fine sand with scattered small stones. Water depth under 2 meters extends approximately 50 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the southwest.

Location

Flovt Strand is located in Haderslev Municipality, Denmark, southeast of the summer house areas of Flovt Strand and Råde Strand. Parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguards, toilets with drinking water, disabled access facilities, waste bins, waste sorting, first aid kit, rescue ring, emergency telephone, warning signs for degraded water quality, blue flag.

Season

Routine monitoring of water quality occurs during the bathing water season. Beach classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing water season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification based on routine monitoring 2012–2015 for two faecal indicator bacteria: E. coli and enterococci. Within the defined beach boundary, the creek Løbet has no influence on water quality. The creek Råde Bæk can contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria in connection with rainfall.

Risks

Streams Løbet and Råde Bæk can contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria, particularly after rainfall. Swimming is not recommended in the discharge area of Løbet or Råde Bæk, or at the beach during rainfall and up to 72 hours after heavy rainfall. Low risk of toxic algae (cyanobacteria) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae). Glass shards and litter can occur. Overflow structures upstream in Råde Bæk have potential to release sewage during heavy rain. Risk of chemical pollution (such as oil spills) is very low.
