Furesøen is a freshwater lake bathing spot located at a wooden bathing pier at Holte Roklub in the Store Kalv area of the lake's eastern shore. The pier is situated at the end of Frederikslundsvej and offers access to bathing in water that varies in depth from 0.5 metres at the shore to 2 metres at the pier's end. The lake bottom consists of sand with occasional small stones and may have dense aquatic vegetation. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on monitoring data from 2020–2023.

Water

Freshwater lake. Water depth ranges from 0.5 metres at the shore to 2 metres at the pier's end. Lake bottom is sand with occasional small stones. Dense aquatic vegetation may occur.

Location

Holte, at the end of Frederikslundsvej near Holte Roklub. The bathing pier is located on the eastern shore of Furesøen in the Store Kalv section of the lake.

Facilities

Wooden bathing pier. No toilets available at the pier. Not accessible for disabled persons.

Season

1 June to 1 September. During this period Rudersdal Kommune monitors algal growth and posts warning signs if health risks are identified.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on 2020–2023 data. Combined sewer overflow at structure UA07001 may discharge mixed sewage during extreme rainfall events, with contamination typically lasting no more than 3 days after heavy precipitation. The frequency of overflow varies year to year. Rudersdal Kommune monitors water quality during the bathing season with at least 6 sampling rounds in 2024.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can produce toxins causing headache, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea in high concentrations; children and immunocompromised individuals are particularly vulnerable. Cercariae (parasitic flatworm larvae) are present; contact causes skin irritation lasting from days to weeks. Occasional occurrences of glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills. Attention should be paid to rowers on the water.
