Fiskebæk Friluftsbad is a bathing beach on Lake Furesøen in Denmark. The beach spans 70 meters in length with a 60-meter width, featuring laid sand for the first 40 meters followed by grass toward the forest. Floating walkways divide the bathing area into basins with depths under 0.8 meters in the first basin and 1 to 1.8 meters in the second basin. The water is freshwater with no strong underwater currents. The beach has been classified as excellent bathing water quality consistently over the past decade.

Water

Lake Furesøen. The bathing area has a sandy bottom. Water depth in the first basin is less than 0.8 meters within the first 20 meters from shore, and 1 to 1.8 meters from 25 to 45 meters from shore. The water is freshwater with no significant underwater currents.

Location

Located at Frederiksborgvej no. 101 in Værløse, within Furesø Municipality, Denmark. The beach has approximately 120 parking spaces, two disabled parking spaces, and bicycle parking about 100 meters from the beach. Additional parking is available along one side of the access road. During peak summer periods with high demand, parking may be limited.

Facilities

Toilets, disabled toilet, kiosk, benches, waste bins, life ring post, and glass container. Information boards are positioned at various entry points. Lifeguards are on duty during the high season.

Season

The beach is open year-round. The official bathing season runs approximately June 1 to September 1, during which lifeguards are on duty and water quality monitoring occurs.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent bathing water quality. This classification has been consistent for ten consecutive years from 2011 to 2020, based on E. coli bacteria and enterococci levels. Water quality is monitored at least 10 times during the bathing season (approximately June 1 to September 1), exceeding the minimum requirement of 4 samples per season.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms historically occurred, typically in warm and calm periods from late June to early August, though recent growth has been declining. Aeromonas veronii bacteria naturally occurs at levels typical of clean lakes. Ichthyophthirius (water fleas causing swimmer's itch) have been reported by bathers. Large accumulations of water pestilence (invasive water plants) can promote bacterial growth. Brief pollution may occur after heavy rainfall from stormwater overflows and adjacent outfalls, with an average of 9 overflow events annually lasting up to 3 days.
