Kinabugtens badeanlæg is a wooden bathing platform located on the north side of Næsset peninsula in Furesøen lake, part of the Store Kalv basin. The lake is a freshwater body with sand and small stone bottom, variable water depth from 0.5 to 1.6 meters, and no strong underwater currents. The bathing area has been classified as excellent water quality based on data from 2020–2023.

Water

Furesøen is a freshwater lake. The bathing platform is located in the Store Kalv basin. Water depth ranges from 0.5 meters at the shore to 1.6 meters at the end of the bathing platform. The lake bottom consists of sand with occasional small stones and dense aquatic vegetation may occur.

Location

The bathing facility is located on the north side of Næsset, adjacent to the Water Ski Club, Yacht Club, and Jægerhuset restaurant in Rudersdal Municipality, Denmark. Parking is available at Jægerhuset at the end of Dronninggårds Alle.

Facilities

Wooden bathing platform. No toilets or facilities for disabled access are available at the bathing site. The QR code sign at the bathing site provides direct access to the municipality's website for current water quality status.

Season

Official monitoring season is 1 June to 1 September. Warning signs are posted if health risks from algal blooms are assessed.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on 2020–2023 data. A combined sewer overflow structure (UA14000) located approximately 600 meters east of the bathing site discharges mixed wastewater to the lake during heavy rainfall, with overflow frequency varying annually and contamination typically lasting a maximum of 3 days after heavy precipitation. At least 6 bathing water samples are taken during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can produce toxins causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea upon contact or ingestion; children and immunocompromised individuals are particularly vulnerable. Although water quality has improved in recent years with fewer algal blooms, algae concentration can increase rapidly and vary along shorelines depending on wind direction. Cercariae (microscopic parasitic flatworm larvae, approximately 0.5 millimeters) are known to occur in the lake and can cause skin irritation and inflammation lasting from several days to several weeks. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur.
