Grønnehave is a bathing beach located approximately 5 km north of Nyborg, facing northeast towards the Great Belt strait. The beach stretches about 2.5 km and features stony substrate with minimal sand. The primary bathing area is at Grønnehave Campsite, which operates as a Blue Flag beach. The northern portion of the beach is a protected marsh meadow approximately 1 km long, while the southern portion is privately owned but has public access.

Water

The Great Belt, a strait between Funen and Zealand serving as the main waterway for ship traffic between Kattegat and the Baltic Sea. Water depth exceeds 2 meters approximately 100 m from the shore at Grønnehave. Salinity measured at 16 ‰ on 15 July 2010. Water currents primarily flow north or south, influenced by tidal conditions and wind. Substrate is predominantly stony with firm sand foundation.

Location

Located approximately 5 km north of Nyborg, Denmark. The beach faces east-northeast towards the Great Belt strait. Public access is available at Grønnehave Campsite.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on microbiological bathing water data from the 2008-2011 bathing seasons. Monitoring station located at Grønnehave (station 080, DKWB 554). Potential pollution sources include rainfall discharges from residential areas near Skaboeshuse and Strandvænget, and from Teglværksskoven forest. Stream outlet from Rendebækken may carry fecal bacteria from wild animals during heavy rainfall, monitored by two control stations.

Risks

During heavy rainfall with northward water currents, fecal contamination from Teglværksskoven forest and coliforme bacteria from residential area discharges may affect the bathing area. Risk of cyanobacteria growth is assessed as low, with no blooms observed in the past 5 years. Risk of phytoplankton growth is assessed as low. Small quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) occur annually.
