Halk Strand is a 150-meter-long beach located 150 meters southeast of Halk Camping on the Lillebælt strait in Denmark. The beach consists primarily of fine sand with patches of small and medium-sized stones, and the seabed extends with fine sand and scattered stones. The beach is backed by a planted slope that creates an intimate atmosphere, surrounded by hilly, scenic terrain offering good recreational opportunities.

Water

Brackish water in the Lillebælt strait. Water depth is less than 2 meters extending 100 meters from the coast. Current direction is variable, primarily from the southwest, based on assessments conducted 2006–2011.

Location

Halk Strand is located 150 meters southeast of Halk Camping in Haderslev Municipality, Denmark. Parking is available in a large grass area west of the beach. Toilets and facilities are located at the parking area.

Facilities

Toilets with drinking water, Blue Flag designation, first aid kit, emergency telephone, rescue ring, trash bins, and a warning sign system for degraded water quality.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent based on routine monitoring of E. coli and enterococcus bacteria conducted during the bathing season. Classification is based on control samples collected regularly between 2012–2015 and is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A stream with two outlets—one downstream of the beach access and one 400 meters northeast—may periodically contain high concentrations of fecal bacteria; swimming is not recommended at the stream outlets. Low risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of macroalgae accumulation. Low risk of chemical contamination such as oil spills. Glass shards and litter may occasionally be present.
