Hejsager Strand is an 800-metre-long beach marked with a blue line, located along Sandvig opposite the Hejsager summer house area. The beach consists of fine sand with scattered small and medium-sized stones, and the seabed comprises fine sand with small stones. Water depth increases gradually, remaining under 2 metres for the first 100 metres from the shore. The water in Lillebælt at this location is classified as brackish water.

Brackish water in Lillebælt. The beach is 800 metres long and 15–20 metres wide. Water depth is under 2 metres at 100 metres from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from west and east.

Location

Hejsager Strand is situated near Hejsager in Haderslev Municipality, Denmark. The beach is adjacent to the Hejsager summer house area, with Kelstrup Strand summer houses to the west, Hejsager Forest to the northwest, and Halk Nor to the east. Parking is available at the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine testing during the bathing season for two faecal indicator bacteria: E. coli and enterococci. Testing has been conducted regularly since 2012, with classification revised annually before the bathing season.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of macroalgae wash-up. Hejsager Bæk stream, located 800 metres west of the beach, may periodically contain high faecal bacteria concentrations; bathing is discouraged in the stream outlet. Halk Nor outlet is 950 metres east and poses negligible risk due to high dilution. Glass fragments and litter may occur. Sudden contamination from accidents involving pleasure boats, manure tanks, or sewage pipes is possible. Risk of chemical contamination is very low.
