Hoborg

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Hoborg is a small natural beach on the east coast of Langeland's northern tip, adjacent to the Hoborglund summer house area and separated from it by a dike. The beach measures 250 meters long and 5 meters wide, composed of small to medium-sized stones with occasional larger stones. A bathing pier is located at the beach. Green areas surrounding the beach create a pleasant atmosphere.

Water

Brackish water in Langelandsbælt. Water depth is less than 2 meters up to 100 meters from the shore. Primary current direction is from the north.

Location

Hoborg is located on the east coast of northern Langeland at the Hoborglund summer house area, facing Langelandsbælt. The beach is marked with a blue line on overview maps. A trash bin and warning sign are available at the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification based on routine monitoring for E. coli and enterococcus bacteria conducted during the bathing season (1 June to 1 September). The classification meets the required standards and is revised annually before the bathing season starts. Classification was calculated from samples taken regularly between 2007 and 2010.

Risks

The stream Øster Prisskov has an outlet 550 meters south of the beach and may contain high concentrations of fecal bacteria in periods; swimmers are advised to bathe only within the defined beach section. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up at the water's edge. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Possible occurrence of glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills from accidents involving pleasure boats, manure tanks, or sewage pipes.
