Holbæk Søbad is a public bathing facility located at Holbæk Centre. The site features a large pool of 430 m² with a depth of approximately 1.5 metres and two smaller children's pools of approximately 0.5 metres depth, all with sandy bottoms. Additional facilities include toilets, changing rooms, showers, a sauna, picnic tables, benches, viewing towers, a climbing wall, and water slides.

Water

Public bathing pool and natural water body. Main pool: 430 m² with depth approximately 1.5 metres. Two children's pools: approximately 0.5 metres depth. All pools have sandy bottoms. Water is brackish under normal conditions.

Location

Located at Holbæk Centre, accessed via Kalundborgvej 54. A parking area is available before the bridge leading to the bathing facility. Information board and toilets, including disabled toilet, are located at the parking area.

Season

1 May to 1 September. Water quality controlled routinely during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Good based on data from 2020–2023. Monitoring conducted during bathing season for faecal contamination using two indicator bacteria: E. coli and enterococci. Overflow structures located approximately 300 m west and 650 m east of the bathing station may discharge partially treated wastewater during heavy rainfall. Stormwater outlets present in the area; stormwater runoff can contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during heavy rainfall.

Risks

Overflow structures and stormwater outlets may discharge partially treated wastewater during heavy rainfall. Sudden pollution events possible from boat incidents, slurry tanks, sewage pipe failures, and heavy rainfall. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms, phytoplankton and macroalgae growth. Occasional glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills reported.
