Jegindø Tap

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Jegindø Tap is a 350-meter-long beach on the southern tip of the island of Jegindø, facing Tambosund in the Limfjorden. The beach is approximately 30 meters wide and composed of sand covered by medium-sized stones, with some sandy areas. The surrounding area is characterized by unspoiled natural landscape with fjord views on all sides.

Water

Saltwater fjord (Limfjorden). Water depth increases gradually; depth is less than 2 meters up to 180 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable but primarily from the west and northwest.

Location

Located on the island of Jegindø in Struer Municipality, Denmark. Access is via Rønvej, which leads to a parking area. A small summer cottage area (Rønhuse) is situated approximately 500 meters north of the beach.

Facilities

Parking area available. Warning sign at the beach for notification of degraded water quality or algal blooms.

Season

Monitoring conducted during the bathing season. Classification is reviewed annually in May prior to the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring for fecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted during the bathing season. No fecal pollution sources have been identified in the area that could cause degraded water quality at this location.

Risks

Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up at the water's edge; bathing near large accumulations is not recommended. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Occasional contamination possible from boat accidents, slurry tanks, and sewage pipes. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
