Tambohuse Ved Bro

Tambohuse ved bro is a bathing beach located north of the small community of Tambohuse in Tambosund, Denmark. The beach is 250 metres long and 1–2 metres wide, composed of fine sand without stones or shells, with a stone jetty running along it. The water is classified as salt water from Limfjorden with gradually increasing depth. The beach has recently renovated harbour facilities and is bordered by a large natural area grazed by cattle.

Water

Salt water in Limfjorden. Water depth increases gradually, reaching less than 2 metres at 180 metres from shore. Current direction is variable with no single primary direction. The seabed consists of fine sand with scattered small stones.

Location

Located north of Tambohuse, along Tambogade. Parking is available opposite Tambohuse Kro. Struer Kommune is the responsible authority, located at Østergade 11–15, 7600 Struer, Denmark.

Facilities

Toilet facilities, waste bins, parking, warning signs, life ring, and recently renovated harbour facilities.

Season

Routine monitoring takes place during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent, based on routine monitoring of E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria during the bathing season from 2011–2014. The classification meets required standards and is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A rainwater discharge outlet at the bathing bridge carries surface water runoff; bathing is not recommended directly in front of this outlet as rainwater drainage may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during rainfall. Risk of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of large quantities of macroalgae washing ashore is low. Sudden contamination from boat accidents, slurry tanks, or sewage leaks is possible. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
