Klarskovgård Strand is a sandy beach located on the open coast facing Storebælt, oriented southward. The beach is 15 to 25 meters wide and approximately 200 meters long, divided by several groynes. The seafloor consists of sand and stones, with relatively steep gradients extending 100 to 120 meters to a depth of 2 meters. Water quality has been classified as excellent based on data from 2012 to 2017.

Water

Saltwater body on the open coast of Storebælt. Seafloor to approximately 2 meters depth consists of sand and stones. Seabed gradient is relatively steep, with approximately 100 to 120 meters distance to reach 2 meters depth. Dominant current direction is from the east (44% of measurements). Depth conditions vary due to tidal influences, currents, and weather conditions.

Location

Located in Slagelse Municipality, Denmark. Access is via Korsør Lystskov road through Korsør Forest, with parking available in the curve nearest to the beach. A path leads from the parking area to the beach.

Facilities

Parking available. Toilet facilities present. Warning signs are located at the beach for notification of water quality degradation.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Classification is based on data from 2012 to 2017. Monitoring is conducted six times per year. Korsør treatment plant discharges treated wastewater to Storebælt through a pipeline that outlets 500 meters from the coast, 500 meters further south. Slagelse Municipality will issue warnings in case of degraded water quality.

Risks

Risk of fecal pollution exists approximately 900 meters north of the beach from wastewater overflow to Søskær Mose from combined sewer system, and approximately 300 meters north from wastewater from individual properties in Korsør Forest. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Risk of washed-up macroalgae exists but current conditions typically carry it away after a few days. Occasional glass shards, debris, and chemical contamination including oil spills can occur. Following extreme rainfall, Slagelse Municipality recommends avoiding bathing for 3 days.
