Quistgårdsvej Strand is a sandy beach located near the town of Slagelse, oriented toward the southwest and divided by six groynes. The beach is 10 to 20 metres wide and approximately 260 metres long, bordered by residential buildings. Water depth increases steeply from the shore, reaching 2 metres within 70 to 100 metres offshore. The beach is classified as having good bathing water quality based on data from 2012 to 2017.

Saltwater coastal beach with sandy seabed and seaweed to approximately 2 metres depth. The beach is 260 metres long and 10 to 20 metres wide. Water depth is relatively steep, reaching 2 metres within 70 to 100 metres offshore. Dominant current directions are from west and east, each representing 38% of measured flows.

Location

Quistgårdsvej Strand is located near Slagelse in Slagelse Municipality, Denmark. Access is via Quistgårdsvej with parking available at the end of the road. A bathing platform has been installed at the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as good based on 2012–2017 monitoring data. The beach is monitored six times annually through water sampling. The area is served by combined sewer system with risk of overflow events during extreme weather, which may cause temporary faecal pollution.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacterial blooms is low but possible during warm weather and high nutrient levels. Seaweed wash-up occurs regularly but is typically washed away within days; large accumulations are not recommended for bathing. Combined sewer system poses overflow risk during extreme rainfall. Glass, debris, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Municipality advises against bathing for 3 days following heavy rainfall.
