Kramnitze

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Kramnitze is an 800-meter-long sandy beach with small stones at the water's edge, located in Rødby along Femern Belt. The beach is 15–25 meters wide with a gradually sloping seabed of sand and scattered stones, making it suitable for families. The water is classified as brackish and the beach is situated in a scenic area along Lollands Dige with a nearby holiday home area.

Water

Brackish water in Femern Belt. Water depth rises gradually from the shore, with depth under 2 meters approximately 100 meters from the coast. Current direction is changeable, primarily from the west.

Location

Rødby, Denmark. The beach is accessible via Kramnitsevej and has two parking areas with direct beach access. The western parking area is equipped with disabled facilities. Nearby services include toilets, a shop, and restaurants.

Toilet facilities, disabled access facilities (western parking area), trash bins at both parking areas, first aid equipment, rescue ring, emergency telephone, drinking water, information signs, blue flag.

Season

Monitoring occurs routinely during the bathing season. Classification is reviewed annually in May before the bathing season starts.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022 is Excellent. Classification is based on routine sampling during the bathing season 2018–2021, analysing E. coli and enterococci bacteria. The classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A large watercourse discharges at the western end of the beach with risk of high faecal bacteria concentrations during heavy rainfall; bathing near the discharge is not recommended. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) wash-up at the water's edge. Glass shards and litter may occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills. Sudden contamination from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible.
