Costalovara Lake is a natural lake located on the southeastern edge of the Renon plateau near Bolzano. The bathing area is situated in front of a meadow, in part surrounded by forest. The lake has a rocky bottom composed of quartz porphyries with morainic deposits overlaid on top.

Natural lake formed by moraine deposits. Rocky bottom composed of quartz porphyries with morainic deposits. Depth approximately 4 meters. Part of the Adige River watershed.

Location

Renon municipality, Bolzano Province, Autonomous Province of South Tyrol, Italy. Altitude 1,176 meters above sea level. Coastal extension in the area is 0.760 kilometers.

Water Quality

Excellent water quality classification based on 2024 evaluation using data from 2021–2024. Active limnological monitoring of the lake with three samplings per year. Nutrients from agricultural meadows north of the lake may wash into the lake through a tributary after rainfall.

After rainfall, nutrients from agricultural meadows north of the lake may be washed into the lake through an tributary. Short-term pollution events are considered unlikely. No cyanobacterial proliferation events recorded. No phytoplankton proliferation events recorded.
