Lago Grande di Monticolo - Nord is a lake bathing area located 20 kilometres southwest of Bolzano in a gentle depression of Monte di Mezzo, a small mountain chain dividing Val d'Adige from Oltradige. The lake formed through glacial excavation and is situated at an altitude of 492 metres above sea level. It experiences intensive recreational bathing use in a zone of high recreational value. A busy summer bathing establishment with pools operates to the west, and reed bed areas covering approximately 3 hectares are present to the north and southwest.
