Baveno Lido is a sandy-gravelly beach with public access located on Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region. The beach extends 267 metres and is situated at 205 metres above sea level. Water quality is classified as Excellent based on routine monitoring from 2021–2024. The beach permits dogs on leashes and allows water sports and beach volleyball.

Location

Baveno, in the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Piedmont region, Italy. The beach is located to the right orographic side of the Torrente Selva Spessa. Contact: Municipality of Baveno, Piazza Dante Alighieri, telephone 0323 912311.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples collected during 2021–2024. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 132.5 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 256.7 MPN/100 ml. Enterococcci 90th percentile: 83.3 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 155.8 MPN/100 ml. The area is served by a wastewater treatment plant located within 10 km of the monitoring point.

Risks

The Torrente Selva Spessa stream is present near the monitoring zone and could affect water quality during heavy rainfall. Intense precipitation may trigger overflow devices and accidental failures of pumping systems, allowing untreated wastewater to enter the lake. The water body is classified as medium-high pressure zone due to sewer pipe density.
