Lystlund Sø

Denmark Lake 1 - Excellent

Lystlund Sø is a shallow, clear freshwater lake located in a nature reserve within the Nørre Vosborg Hede plantation area. The bathing beach extends 300 metres along the lake shore with a small island in the centre. The lake is fed by groundwater with no tributaries and offers calm bathing conditions. The northern shore and central island consist of fine sand, making it particularly suitable for families with children.

Water

Shallow freshwater lake. The beach width reaches up to 5 metres. The lake bottom sediment consists of a mixture of sand and soil. The northern shore and central island have fine sand. A small island in the centre has a perimeter of 100 metres. The lake has no tributaries and is fed by groundwater.

Location

Lystlund Sø is situated in the Nørre Vosborg Hede area in Holstebro Municipality, Denmark. Parking is available directly at the lake. The beach is 300 metres long and clearly marked with a blue line.

Facilities

Toilets, rubbish bins, life ring, parking, picnic tables, benches, barbecue and grilling area.

Season

Monitoring and classification revision occur annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent. Routine monitoring during the bathing season tests for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. Classification is based on control samples taken regularly over the last four bathing seasons. No fecal contamination sources identified in the surrounding area.
