Macereto is a bathing water area located along a high rocky coastline east of the village of Vernazzo, extending to Punta Palmo. The area is part of the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area. It is classified as coastal water with mountainous relief and low stability.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (2008-2011). No coastal wastewater treatment plants or Imhoff tanks are present in the area. Cyanobacterial blooms are not characteristic of the Ligurian Sea due to prevalent oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded.
