Condominio Galassia is a bathing beach in Numana, Ancona, located along the Adriatic coast. The beach features fine calcareous and siliceous gravel with a gentle slope of 3% on the emerged portion and 8% on the submerged portion. The beach extends 400 metres in length and 35 metres in width. The surrounding area is characterized by urban development and tourist infrastructure.

Coastal marine water body classified as Numana_Porto Recanati. Distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit): 4 metres. Astronomical tide range: 30–50 centimetres. Area extension: 0.4694 hectares. Hydrographic basin: Coastline between Esino and Musone rivers.

Facilities

Lifeguard and first aid assistance services, disabled access facilities, sanitary facilities, food and beverage services (bar and restaurant), sports facilities, recreational facilities for children. Windsurfing and sailing schools present. Boat launching corridors present. Animals not permitted.

Water Quality

Classification: Category E. Wastewater treatment: Centralized biological treatment plant with activated sludge located in Castelfidardo. Network serves municipalities of Osimo, Castelfidardo, Numana, and Sirolo. Design capacity: 62,000 equivalent inhabitants. Served population: approximately 22,150 equivalent inhabitants from urban areas, plus 6,550 from industrial activities; summer fluctuations reach approximately 25,300 equivalent inhabitants. Monthly ARPAM controls during 2010 showed all results compliant with authorized limits. E. coli measurements in 2010 ranged from below detection limit to 110 CFU/100 ml. Phytoplankton monitoring for 2007–2010 showed absence of all algal blooms typical of the coastline.

Risks

During intense rainfall events, sewage network discharge capacity may be exceeded, causing overflow discharges along the beach or into the Musone river and tributaries. Mixed-type sewage collectors predominate in the network.
