Mosvig Strand is a small sandy beach located along a summer cottage area between Bjert Strand and Grønninghoved. The naturally characterized beach consists primarily of fine white sand with small and medium-sized stones. A green area and facilities including parking and a small bathing pier are available at the beach.

Water

The beach borders Lillebælt and the water is classified as brackish water. The current direction is variable. Water depth increases gradually from the shore and the area is very shallow. Depth conditions are indicative and subject to change with tidal variation.

Location

Address: Strandvejen, Grønninghoved. Beach number G515. The beach is 200 metres long. Parking is available.

Facilities

Parking, toilets, bathing pier, trash bins, life ring (in summer season). A warning sign system marks beach boundaries and indicates areas where swimming is discouraged.

Season

Bathing season monitoring is conducted during the official bathing season. Classification is reviewed annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020: Excellent quality. Classification is based on routine control samples taken regularly during the bathing season over the preceding four years (2016–2019). Samples are analysed for E. coli and enterococci bacteria as indicators of faecal contamination.

Risks

A stream runs directly onto the beach and poses a risk of high concentrations of faecal bacteria, particularly during rainfall; swimming is discouraged at and around the stream outlet. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up along the waterline. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low but can occur. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low but can occur. Glass shards and litter can occur at the beach. Sudden contamination from incidents such as pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible.
