Nakkehage

Nakke Hage is a bathing spot located on the Nakkehalvø peninsula in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. The beach features a sandy strand approximately 110 metres long and 10 metres wide that extends into the water. The water is brackish, a mixture of salt and fresh water. The bathing station was reopened in 2012 and has been classified as excellent quality based on monitoring data from 2016–2019.

Water

Sandy beach in brackish water. Approximately 6 metres to reach 0.5 metres depth, approximately 11 metres to reach 1 metre depth, and approximately 150 metres to reach 2 metres depth at the sampling point.

Location

Located on Nakkehalvø peninsula. Access via Nakkehalevej, which ends at a parking area with waste bins. The bathing jetty is privately owned and used at own risk.

Season

Year-round monitoring; bathing station operational since 2012. Classification reviewed annually in October.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality (2019 classification, based on 2016–2019 data) according to Danish regulation BEK 917. A registered discharge point with unknown water quality exists approximately 60 metres west of the bathing spot.

Risks

An unmonitored discharge outlet is located 60 metres west of the bathing spot. Swimming is not recommended if water clarity is poor and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Children should not play or bathe near accumulated algae on the beach due to potential toxin formation and bacterial survival. Occasional occurrences of broken glass, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills have been reported.
