Nekseløvej

Nekseløvej is a bathing beach located at the end of Nekseløvej in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. The beach features fine sand and extends approximately 350 metres in length with a sand area about 11 metres wide. The water is brackish, consisting of a mixture of salt and fresh water. The beach is situated in a summer cottage area and has been classified as excellent quality based on data from 2018–2021.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water). At the sampling point, the water reaches approximately 0.5 metres depth at 27 metres distance, 1 metre depth at over 50 metres, and 2 metres depth at 190 metres. Current direction is variable.

Location

The bathing site is located at the end of Nekseløvej in Odsherred Municipality. Access is via a broad path leading down to the beach where the road turns toward the water. There is no parking available. The beach is in a summer cottage area.

Facilities

Trash bins, waste sorting system, and a rescue post. No parking facilities.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as excellent quality according to regulation BEK 917, based on data from 2018–2021. In August 2021, analyses showed widespread pollution in Nekselø Bay and Sejerø Bay, and swimming was advised against. Pollution sources include a road drain directly opposite the sampling point, and two identified outflows approximately 800 metres southwest and 1400 metres northeast of the beach. Heavy rainfall can cause temporary pollution of bathing water.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low. Risk of macroalgae growth is moderate. Heavy rainfall can cause temporary water pollution. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Swimming is advised against if the water is unclear and feet cannot be seen when water reaches knee level. Children should not play or bathe near algae washed ashore due to potential toxins and bacteria.
