Sanddobberne is a fine sandy beach located in Sejerø Bay near Sanddobberne Camping in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. The beach stretches approximately 200 metres in length with a sandy area about 50 metres wide. The bathing water is classified as excellent quality based on data from 2018–2021. The beach is accessible via a wooden footbridge approximately 500 metres from the parking area.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water) in Sejerø Bay. The seabed reaches 0.5 metres depth over 100 metres from the sampling point and 2 metres depth over 600 metres from the sampling point.

Location

The bathing area is accessed via Kalundborgvej, with parking available at Kalundborgvej 26 D. A wooden footbridge leads from the parking area to the beach, located nearly 500 metres away. The beach is situated next to Sanddobberne Camping.

Facilities

Toilets at the parking area, information board, emergency telephone at the eastern end of the footbridge, lifesaving and first aid equipment, waste bin at the western end of the footbridge.

Season

Badesæson (bathing season) applies. Classification is reviewed annually in October. Monitoring occurs minimum 4 times per year.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality. Water analysis in August 2021 revealed widespread pollution in Nekselø Bay and Sejerø Bay, with bathing discouraged at that time. The bathing area was previously classified as poor quality after the 2014 bathing season due to wastewater pollution. Classification has improved in recent years, though occasional exceedances occur. Overskridelser may last over a week depending on weather, current, and wind conditions.

Risks

Wastewater discharge sources located approximately 1200 metres south (Hørve-Dragskanalen receiving sewage from scattered dwellings, normally closed by sluice gate during bathing season) and 1000 metres north of the bathing area. A watercourse within the reef also discharges wastewater. Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low; risk of macroalgae growth is moderate. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur. Bathing is discouraged when water clarity prevents seeing feet at knee depth.
