Vraget is a bathing beach located in the southern part of Fårevejle in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. The beach features a fine sandy shore approximately 300 meters long and 15 meters wide. The water is brackish, a mixture of salt and fresh water. The beach is situated in a nature-protected area and has been classified as excellent quality based on monitoring data from 2017–2020.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water). The beach extends approximately 300 meters with a sandy area 15 meters wide. Water depth reaches approximately 0.5 meters at 48 meters from the sampling site and 2 meters depth at 190 meters from the sampling site. Current direction is variable but most often from the south.

Location

Access is via Vindekilde Strandvej; parking available at number 19 with waste bins and sorting facilities. An information board, tables, benches, and toilet facilities are located near the parking area. A broad path leads to the water.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality (2017–2020 data). The bathing water is occasionally loaded with wastewater. Most exceedances are measured during southerly and south-westerly currents and coincide with exceedances at Sanddobberne beach to the south. Pollution duration in summer is typically short (1–3 days depending on weather, currents, and wind) due to relatively low concentrations. Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low; risk of macroalgae growth is medium.

Risks

Occasional wastewater pollution from three watercourse outlets in the vicinity: Hørve-Dragskanalen approximately 2 kilometers south, a watercourse approximately 250 meters north, and a watercourse within the ravine. Macroalgae growth risk is medium. Bathing is not recommended if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur.
