Vesterlyng nord is an excellent-quality bathing beach approximately 870 metres long and 10 metres wide, located in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. The beach features sand with a broad band of small stones and sparse vegetation between them. A narrow band of eelgrass and macroalgae are present along the shore. The seabed consists of sand with some smaller stones.

Water

Coastal marine water. The beach is approximately 870 metres long and 10 metres wide. The seabed is predominantly sand with some smaller stones.

Location

The beach is located at Vesterlyng in Kalundborg Municipality, accessed by car via Lyngvej, which ends at a parking area. A sign board and toilet facilities are located at the parking area. Lyngvej also runs from Vesterlyng nord to Vesterlyng syd with several parking areas along the route, though not all are always open.

Season

Bathing season monitoring section is revised annually in November following the end of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli for 2018-2021). Monitoring is conducted minimum 4 times per year.

Risks

Fecal sources from grazing cattle and horses on the beach and from the watercourse Karsemoserenden. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms and large quantities of macroalgae accumulation. Occasional occurrence of glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution.
