Nordstrandsvej is a bathing beach located north of Nykøbing Sjælland facing the Kattegat. The beach features a sandy shore with some stones, approximately 500 metres long and 30 metres wide. The water is brackish, containing a mixture of salt and fresh water. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on data from 2016–2019.

Water

Brackish water body (mixture of salt and fresh water). Water depth: approximately 9 metres to reach 0.5 metres depth, 15 metres to reach 1 metre depth, and 175 metres to reach 2 metres depth.

Location

The beach is situated north of Nykøbing Sjælland. Access is via Nordstrandsvej. Parking is available at the beach entrance. A telephone, first aid equipment, toilet facilities including a disabled toilet, and a camping site are located along the approach.

Blue flag, lifeguard and first aid equipment, toilet, disabled toilet, parking, waste bins, waste sorting, information board, telephone, first aid kit at campsite location.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2018–2019). The bathing water is monitored with 20 analyses per year. One exceedance occurred in 2018 when bathing was advised against; the source of pollution was not identified. The exceedance was not large and water quality returned to acceptable levels within 3 days.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria, phytoplankton, and macroalgae growth is low. Bathing is discouraged if water clarity is poor and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Occasional occurrences of glass fragments, litter, chemical pollution including oil spills are possible.
