Nørlev Strand

Nørlev Strand is a bathing beach approximately 60 meters wide and 300 meters long consisting of fine sand without large stones. The beach is located in a summer house area east of the shoreline, with low dunes leading down to the water. The seabed also consists of fine sand, with water depth under 2 meters extending approximately 150 meters from the coast. The water in this location is classified as saltwater with primary current direction from the southwest.

Primary current direction is from the southwest. Depth conditions are variable due to tidal movements, currents, and weather conditions.

Season

Routine water quality control samples are taken regularly during the bathing season. Water quality classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent based on monitoring data from 2011-2014. Classification is based on analysis of two indicator bacteria: E. coli and enterococci. Excellent quality means fecal bacterial concentration is very low. No known sources of fecal pollution have been identified at the beach.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms assessed as low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms assessed as low. Risk of large seaweed (macroalgae) washup assessed as low. Glass shards, rubbish, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur. Sudden pollution events from ship accidents, slurry tanks, and sewage lines are possible. Sudden changes in water depth can occur after sandbar breakthroughs.
