Olivo Pontile Ferrari is a pebble and shingle beach located on the coast west of Seno dell'Olivo in Portovenere, Liguria. The bathing water classification is excellent. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to its predominantly oligotrophic conditions. There have been no cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation in the past four years.

Gulf of La Spezia. Coastal water body with an area of 0.55 square kilometres. The hydrographic basin is Fosso dell'Olivo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent (2008-2011). The primary identified pollution source is the river mouth (Foce Fluviale). No coastal treatment plants or Imhoff tanks are present.

Risks

The river mouth is identified as a source of short-duration pollution events. A modelling approach for event characterization and source identification is under development.
