Ordrup strand is a fine sandy beach located in the northwestern part of Fårevejle in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. The beach is approximately 330 meters long with a sandy area about 15 meters wide. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on data from 2017–2020. The beach is situated in a nature-protected area with summer cottages in the surrounding hinterland.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water) in a coastal setting. The beach extends approximately 330 meters. At the sampling point near the end of the pier, the water is approximately 1 meter deep, with 450 meters distance to 2 meters depth. Current direction varies but most commonly ranges around west-northwest.

Location

Accessed via Højbjergvej in Odsherred Municipality. A parking area is located at number 28 Højbjergvej before the access road to the beach. The parking area includes toilets, accessible toilet facilities, waste bins, waste sorting, an information board, tables, and benches.

Lifeguard and first aid equipment. Access road includes telephone. Beach features a bathing pier. Parking area has toilet facilities including accessible toilet, waste bins, information board, tables, and benches.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on 2017–2020 data). Two registered outfalls are nearby: one receives wastewater from scattered buildings, and the other has unknown discharge. Ordrup strand has experienced occasional minor cases of wastewater pollution, likely from one of the two registered outfalls. Pollution duration typically ranges from 1–3 days during summer depending on weather, currents, and wind conditions. Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low. Risk of macroalgae growth is moderate.

Two registered outfalls near the beach. Occasional wastewater pollution associated with heavy rainfall. Risk of macroalgae growth is moderate. Swimming is not recommended if water clarity is poor and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Children should avoid playing near washed-up algae or in the open stream running across the beach due to unknown water quality and potential toxin production. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
