Playa Las Palmeras is a family tourism beach in Los Alcázares on the Mar Menor coast. The beach is 1100 metres long with an average width of 20 metres and is composed of golden sand. It is located in an urban area with a promenade and experiences high occupancy. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag designation.

Coastal marine water body. Length 1100 metres, average width 20 metres. Sandy bottom with golden sand. Water renewal rate less than 7 days. Micromareal tidal range (less than 2 metres).

Facilities

Foot rinsing stations (5 locations). No showers, toilets, or changing rooms are present.

Water Quality

Water quality was rated as excellent from 2000–2009 except in 2008 when it was rated as good. Water quality was rated as excellent in 2010 and 2011. The bathing area is designated as suitable for bathing.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health or ecosystems. Sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed virtually no presence of potentially toxic cells. Risk level is null or very low. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer; production is highly variable.
