Playa Paseo Carrión is a family tourism beach in Los Alcázares located on the Mar Menor coastal area. The beach extends 600 metres in length with an average width of 15 metres and features dark sand composition on a natural sandy bottom. It experiences high occupancy during daily recreational use, with an estimated maximum of 1906 swimmers. The beach has a micromareal tide range of less than 2 metres and water renewal occurs within 7 days.

Facilities

Foot-washing stations (2 units discharging directly to sand). No showers, toilets, or changing rooms available.

Water Quality

Water quality was rated as excellent during 2000–2009 and continued as excellent in 2010 and 2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. Toxic phytoplankton monitoring conducted in 2008 and 2009 showed negligible presence of potentially toxic cells. No authorized discharge in the proximate area. Risk level: null or very low.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health or ecosystems; risk is null or very low. Jellyfish have seasonal appearance periods, with maximum abundance between spring and late summer.
