Playa Paseo de la Concha is a family tourism beach in Los Alcázares located in the Mar Menor coastal water body. The beach is 400 metres long with an average width of 15 metres and features a dark sand bottom. It is an urbanised beach with high occupancy and a promenade. Water renewal occurs within 7 days, and the beach is suitable for daily recreational swimming.

Coastal marine water body in the Mar Menor. Beach length 400 metres, average width 15 metres. Dark sand bottom. Water renewal rate less than 7 days. Micromareal tidal range (less than 2 metres). Annual precipitation 300 mm.

Los Alcázares, Mar Menor coastal area. UTM coordinates 689429.96, 4178821.49 (Zone 30N). Latitude 37.735246°, Longitude -0.851512°.

Facilities

Foot wash stations (3 units). Toilets (2 units, connected to sewerage). Changing rooms (2 units, connected to sewerage). Water sports rental and beach volleyball available.

Water Quality

Water quality was rated as excellent during 2000–2009 and remained excellent in 2010 and 2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. Toxic phytoplankton monitoring conducted in 2008 and 2009 showed negligible presence of potentially toxic cells. No authorised discharges in the proximate area. Risk of toxic phytoplankton: null or very low.

Risks

Jellyfish blooms occur seasonally, with peak abundance from early spring to late summer. Production levels are highly variable. Episodes of short-duration algal blooms are unlikely.
