Playa Los Narejos is a family tourism beach located in Los Alcázares on the Mar Menor coast. The beach extends 1000 metres in length with an average width of 20 metres and features a natural sandy composition with golden sand. It is classified as an urban beach with high occupancy and includes a promenade with complementary services. The beach has received Blue Flag status.

Location

Los Alcázares, on the Mar Menor coast in the Segura Hydrographic Basin. The monitoring point is located at UTM coordinates 690903.39, 4180999.46 (zone 30N), latitude 37.754557°, longitude -0.834230°.

Foot showers (lavapiés) are available at 6 locations. No showers, toilets, or changing rooms are listed.

Water Quality

Water quality from 2000–2009 was rated excellent except in 2008 when it was rated good. In 2010 and 2011, quality was rated excellent. The water mass is classified as having acceptable ecological status according to Orden ARM/2656/2008.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health or ecosystems. Sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells. Risk from phytoplankton: null or very low. Jellyfish appear seasonally between spring and late summer with highly variable abundance.
