Poça is an urban and rocky bathing beach nestled between two coastal elevations in the Costa do Estoril promenade area of Cascais. The beach is highly rocky and enclosed by elevated coastal terrain.

Location

Cascais municipality, located in the Costa do Estoril promenade area. Coordinates: latitude 38.701932°, longitude -9.392043° (ETRS89).

Season

May 1st to October 15th, 2024. Weekly sampling frequency during bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2023 was determined under Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). No bathing prohibition or advisory days occurred in the 2023 season due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Low risk of short-term pollution lasting 1–2 days, potentially occurring due to excessive rainwater drainage flow or the Cadaveira stream during precipitation events. Potential pollution sources include the rainwater drainage network and nearby Cadaveira stream. Cyanobacteria proliferation is unlikely; macroalgae proliferation is rare; phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
