Tamariz is one of the most cosmopolitan beaches of the Estoril Coast. It is a major tourist attraction of the region, with various bars and discotheques. The beach is separated from the Estoril Casino gardens by the Marginal Road and the railway line, which has a station on site. It is easily accessible by public transport, making it a preferred destination for those using trains.

Location

Located in Cascais Municipality. The bathing water is situated at coordinates LAT 38.702289°, LONG -9.398833° (ETRS89). The beach is part of the Estoril Coast and is accessible by train with a station on the local site.

Season

Bathing season 2024 runs from May 1st to October 15th. Sampling frequency is weekly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2023 is available under Decreto-Lei 135/09 of June 3rd, as amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012 of May 23rd. No days of bathing being advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2023 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution risk is low but may occur due to excessive rainwater drainage flow during precipitation events and proximity to the Amoreira stream discharge. Such events are not expected to last more than 1 to 2 days. Potential microbiological pollution sources include the Amoreira stream and the surface water drainage network. The potential for proliferation of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton is unlikely.
