Ponente Verbone is a sandy and pebbly beach located in Vallecrosia, Liguria, with artificial structures perpendicular to the shore. Private beach facilities with services, public toilets, and restaurants are available. The Marconi seafront promenade, railway, and the SS1 state road are situated inland.

Water

Coastal water body covering an area of 0.704 km². Part of the Ventimiglia-Bordighera water body in the Ligurian Sea.

Location

Vallecrosia, Imperia province, Liguria region. The bathing water is located along the coast with access via the Marconi seafront promenade.

Facilities

Private beach establishments with services, public toilets, restaurants, and the Marconi seafront promenade.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for the four-year period 2020–2023: Excellent. A wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 380–405 metres west of the sampling station outside the bathing water boundary. The active outfall pipe discharges approximately 1000 metres from the shore, outside the bathing water area.

Risks

Heavy precipitation can increase stream flow rates and potentially transport effluent downstream. The Vallecrosia stream mouth (T.Vallecrosia) is located at the eastern boundary of the bathing water. The Ligurian Sea experiences occasional benthic microalgal proliferation, specifically of Ostreopsis ovata, though no exceedances of the monitoring limit (30,000 cells/litre) were recorded at the reference station from 2020 to 2024. Inhalation of aerosol from Ostreopsis ovata can cause temporary and reversible respiratory tract irritation and occasional fever in sensitive individuals.
