Ponte Sasso Casello FF.SS. is a bathing water located in Fano, Marche region. The beach features fine quartz and feldspathic calcareous sand with a gentle slope of 1–3 percent. The beach is protected by both natural and artificial rocky outcrops, with an average distance of 80 metres between water and safe areas at low tide. The surrounding area is urbanized with a railway line passing through.

Coastal marine water body (Fano_Senigallia). Beach width averages 53 metres. Astronomical tidal range is 30–50 centimetres.

Location

Fano, Pesaro Urbino province, Marche region. The beach has a reserved parking area for disabled persons with accessible pathways from parking to beach and to sea.

Lifeguards and first aid service. Two concession areas and three free beach areas. Disabled facilities including reserved parking, accessible pathway to beach, accessible pathway to sea, and disabled toilets. Refreshment point. Sports facilities for beach volleyball and basketball. Children's play area. The beach is adjacent to a pedestrian zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is E. Wastewater treatment is provided by three active sludge treatment plants serving the municipality. The Ponte Sasso plant treats 1,000–4,000 cubic metres daily depending on season. During heavy rainfall, 10 storm water overflows discharge to the Rio Crinaccio estuary. A mild increase in microbiological parameters was recorded. Non-toxic microalgae blooms (Noctiluca scintillans) occurred during the 2008 and 2009 bathing seasons, causing unusual water discoloration.
