Værftet Strand is a mixed stone and sand beach located near the town of Slagelse in Denmark, close to the harbor. The beach is oriented toward the southwest and is between 20 and 25 meters wide and approximately 190 meters long. It is bordered landward by residential buildings. The seabed consists of sand out to approximately 2 meters depth, with water classified as saltwater.

Water

Saltwater beach. The seabed consists of sand out to approximately 2 meters depth. The distance to 2 meters depth is between 70 and 120 meters from the shore. Water depth is relatively shallow at the beach.

Location

The beach is located in Slagelse Municipality near the harbor in the Halsskov area. Access is available via Revvej, Søvænget, and Værftet, or via Strandvejen, with parking available at the end of both access routes. The beach entrance is approximately 50 meters from the water path.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent, based on data from 2012–2017. The beach is monitored 6 times per year. The dominant current direction is from the west at 31% of measurements, with no identified connection between current direction and increased pollution.

Risks

Risk of fecal pollution during extreme rainfall events; Slagelse Municipality recommends against bathing for 3 days following extreme rain. Two discharge outlets exist on the beach, one inactive on the western end and one active rainwater outlet in the middle connected to the Birkemose facility. Risk of kelp (tang) wash-up, though typically removed within a few days; bathing near large amounts of kelp is not recommended. Risk of sudden pollution from boat accidents, manure tanks, and sewage lines. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Possible occasional glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills.
