Spiaggia Al Faro

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Spiaggia al Faro is a rocky beach located at the north-east end of Lake Caldonazzo in Trentino Alto Adige. The beach has a median slope consistent between the emerged and submerged zones. It measures approximately 118 metres in length and 5 metres in width. The beach is situated near the SS47 della Valsugana road with a parking area nearby. Water quality has been classified as excellent for the years 2016 through 2019.

Water

Lake Caldonazzo. The bathing water area covers 0.9 square kilometres. The beach is rocky with average slope consistent between emerged and submerged zones.

Location

Located in Pergine Valsugana, Trento Province, Trentino Alto Adige. The beach is positioned at the north-east end of Lake Caldonazzo, below and at a short distance from the SS47 della Valsugana road, with a parking area in between. Altitude is 449 metres above sea level.

Facilities

Reception facilities available. Private management. Boat mooring.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (years 2016–2019). Mean total phosphorus concentration for 2014–2016 was 21 µg/l. Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. An internal phosphorus load from sediment release during anoxic periods is estimated to represent approximately 28 per cent of total load. No direct sewage or other pressures affect the lake, though historical internal load issues prevent full compliance with directive quality objectives. Cyanobacteria blooms with potentially toxic species are present as a proliferation type.

Risks

Potential overflow of untreated sewage into Torrente Mandola during heavy rainfall due to incorrect separation of municipal sewer networks. Possible release of raw sewage in the area from pump station malfunctions at Calceranica. Cyanobacteria blooms with potentially toxic species are recorded.
